How long have you been in this position?
I’ve been a Group Business Director at MEC for 6 years now.
What do you find most challenging about your role?
Keeping myself, my team and my clients abreast and ahead of the constant changes and evolution of our industry. It certainly stops it from being dull and debunks the old saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. (I’m the old dog here by the way).
How did you get your first job in Media?
Got introduced to the industry by a family friend who worked at a media agency in London. He gave me a few contacts and I got my first job as a sales assistant at Tyne Tees TV (a very long time ago).
If you could do any job what would it be?
President of FIFA sounds like a good gig to me.
If you could change one thing about your role what would it be?
Probably my title –Squadron leader or Field Marshall perhaps.
What is your favourite magazine?
Do you have a work/life balance?
Generally yes, it’s important to schedule time for yourself.
What was the last campaign you did with magazines?
Campbell’s Real Stock – did some great stuff with the food titles recently including the front cover with Manu in Taste.com.au Magazine.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I am a qualified hypnotherapist.
Best compliment you’ve ever received?
You don’t look THAT old.
Best magazine cover you’ve seen?
I always had a bit of a thing for Janet Jackson back in the day, so that Rolling Stone cover of her was a personal favourite.
