Mila Sedivy

Name// Mila Sedivy
Position// Account Director at Starcom MediaVest
What’s your current position?
How long have you been in this position?
Account Director. I have been at Starcom MediaVest for just over 12 months
What do you find most challenging about your role?
What we do as Media Agencies has been going through an evolution over the last couple of years. We have evolved from a world of just buying and planning TARPs and full pages to now having a much more layered business that spans Data & Analytics, Content Marketing & Programmatic Buying, just to name a few! Coupled with that clients are demanding more accountability from their Media Agencies and media ROI has never been more important.
In my role I need to help guide my clients through the changing scope of what our capabilities are as well as ensuring that we are delivering measurable innovation and brand experiences that help to move their business forward.
How did you get your first job in Media?
Not a very interesting story sorry to say! A little while after finishing my Bachelor of Media in Adelaide I packed up and moved to Melbourne and applied for a few jobs. I was eventually hired as a Media Assistant at Carat and never looked back!
If you could do any job what would it be?
Pretty much everything in my life revolves around food, so I guess if I am thinking about my dream job it would be something to do with food! I also love giving people my opinion.. So maybe a food critic? Yeah, that works!
If you could change one thing about your role what would it be?
Hmmm… Not sure I would want that published! Ha ha ha. I guess sometimes it feels like I am herding cats, but not sure there’s much I can do about that!
What is your favourite magazine?
Harpers Bazaar all the way, but Elle is pretty good as well.
Do you have a work/life balance?
I like to think I do. I never used to, but the older I get the more important it has become to me. Work to Live, not the other way around. It’s so easy to lose sight of what’s important.
What was the last campaign you did with magazines?
My Dog My… An inspirational campaign and consumer promotion celebrating the unique relationships people have with their dogs. The role of magazines in this campaign was about celebrating some of our best entries.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I have a Master of Communication and my Dad was Mr Music on Romper Room!
Best compliment you’ve ever received?
Getting asked for ID at 31!
Best magazine cover you’ve seen?
The Harpers Bazaar black and white cover of Cate Blanchet from last year was stunning.
