|Name//||Andrew (Drue) Brannaghan|
|Position//||Trading Director at OMD|
What’s your current position? How long have you been in this position?
Trading Director, 9 months (recently promoted)
What would you say most motivates you to do what you do?
Collaborating with a team that inspire me on a daily basis and it’s fulfilling to see the calibre of work we produce as an agency.
How did you get your first job in Media?
I was working in a supermarket back home in the country and an elderly customer was short in cash on tendering her bill. I offered her the variance out of my own pocket. As it turns out her daughter’s best friend was married to a business director at OMD and facilitated an interview for my generosity. A classic case of ‘pay it forward’.
What do you do when you aren't working?
Gym and generally keeping fit and annoying my partner as much as possible (love stirring the pot). Heading back home to see my family and an unnatural obsession with Lego (Like my Lego Advent calendar for Xmas)!
How do you describe your job to your friends outside media?
Depends who is asking. To some I work in advertising and media, to others I manage a team of traders who purchase media space and liaise with media partners and clients. Though to others I am simply a fire-fighter.
What is your favourite magazine?
GQ and Men’s Health/Men’s Fitness.
What was the last campaign you did with magazines?
We currently have multiple campaigns in market for both my clients Mazda and Fonterra.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps and become a police officer. After realising the hours he actually worked, I thought a spy would be a much preferred career path!
What makes you laugh?
Anything, humour is important to me. I always laugh and at the most inappropriate times.
Who would you most like to interview for a magazine?
The Griffin family from Family Guy or Seth MacFarlane.
