Toyota and Rebel have signed on as sponsors for the 2019 Women In Sport (WinS) Awards, which, for a second ground-breaking year will be broadcast on the Seven Network. Both Toyota and Rebel return for the fifth year with Toyota already signing on for the 2020 WinS Awards which will mark the event’s 10th anniversary.
Sport Australia and the Federal Government – one of the event’s most long-standing partners – have also come on board to support the event.
To be held on October 16 at The Venue in Alexandria, Sydney, the prestigious awards have been recognising and celebrating female athletes from grassroots through to elite professional level since launching in 2011.
Over that time, Women’s Health has helped generate more than $40 million worth of publicity for female athletes via a year-round commitment to telling their powerful stories, profiling sporting role models and inspiring girls around Australia across the brand’s rapidly growing print, digital and social channels, with a total audience footprint of more than 1 million.
The 90-minute broadcast, to be hosted by Giaan Rooney and Mark Beretta, will air on October 18, directly following the launch of the Women’s Big Bash League season, ensuring the female athletes celebrated at this year’s WinS Awards will be recognised on the national stage.
To amplify this further, Women’s Health shot three highly successful female athletes – cricketer Ellyse Perry, para-athlete Madison de Rozario and Olympic gold medallist Cate Campbell – for the cover of the November issue, creating three gatefold covers, released nationally.

The sponsors of this year’s event will be integrated into the awards presentation and broadcast, with additional activity including mentoring events in early 2020.

In 2017, WinS expanded to include a mentoring program to help Australian sportswomen achieve their goals in and away from the sporting arena, connecting the next generation of talent with WinS alumni. Mentors have included some of Australia’s most successful Olympians and sporting leaders including Anna Meares, Layne Beachley, Annabelle Williams, Raelene Castle, Libby Tricket, Leisel Jones, Melinda Gainsford-Taylor and Glenn McGrath.
WinS is the only national campaign of its kind to put female athletes from all disciplines front and centre, with the wards now considered a major part of the national sporting calendar.
Past winners of the WinS Awards include Sportswoman of the Year Sam Kerr who went on to make history in June when she scored four goals in a single World Cup game in France; Moment of the Year winner Ellyse Perry who has continued her success by becoming the first cricketer, male or female, to rack up 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in Twenty20 Internationals; and Toyota’s One to Watch Ash Barty who hit the number one spot in the tennis rankings this year.
